Winter Style: Holiday Outfits #1 +#2

It’s holiday party season, which means it’s time for red everything, velvet dresses, high heels, and tons of tinsel. Stay tuned for some cool outfit ideas!

Holiday Outfit Inspiration #1: Red Peplum Top

I love wearing red to holiday parties. I think it’s such a great, festive color. So a red peplum top is a great central piece for this outfit. Peplum tops help whittle your waist and create and hourglass figure. Pair with a pair of black leather or coated pants and a patterned sports jacket for a cool-girl kind of look and a bit of shine. Finish off the look with black stilettos with red accents, a black bag with some silver hardware and a solid silver choker to polish the entire outfit.

Peplum Top: Time and Lace Wine Red Lace Peplum Top, $18.50 at Lulu’s

Choker: O-Ring Snake Chain Coker in Silver, $3.90 at Forever 21

Pants: Moto Babe Coated Leggings, $15.87 at Go Jane

Shoes: C Label Napoli-28 in Black, $32.99 at 6pm

Purse: Ida Clutch by Carlos Santana, $29.99 at TJ Maxx

Jacket: Jealous Tomato Floral Raglan Scuba Bomber Jacket, $29.99 at Century 21

Holiday Outfit Inspiration #2: Denim Mini Skirt

Another look I really love is the denim mini skirt. Though people may traditionally associate denim skirts with springtime, I happen to love a denim skirt paired with a long coat and long sleeves for the winter. This look is definitely more casual and fun, so it would be great for a small New Years gathering. I’d start with a straight denim skirt, paired with an athletic-looking all-black long sleeve shirt. Pair this with sneakers (bonus style points if they have a platform!) and layered necklaces for a street-style vibe. Top with a brightly colored peacoat, flashy clutch and ultra-cool minimalistic digital watch and voila! You’ve got an effortlessly cool holiday look!

Denim Mini Skirt: BDG Pencil Denim Mini Skirt, $59.00 at Urban Outfitters

Top: Varsity Stripe Ponte Crop Top, $15.00 at Charlotte Russe

Peacoat: Anne Klein Double-Breasted Peacoat in Cobalt, $89.99 at Macy’s

Necklaces: Black Tattoo Choker with Layered Arrow and Turquoise Spike Pendant Necklaces Set of 3, $5.00 at Icing

Purse: Colorful Embroidered Clutch in Black, $33.60 at UrbanOG

Sneakers: Superga Acot Linea Sneaker, $79.95 at Nordstrom

Watch: White Digital Activity Tracker Watch in White, $9.99 at Rue 21

I hope these holiday outfit inspirations gave you some ideas on how to amp up your style game for this holiday season! Hope your holidays are wonderful and full of happiness, love, laughter, and great fashion!

Thanksgiving 2016: A Note of Gratitude

In honor of today’s holiday, I’d like to say thanks. I have been incredibly blessed with so many opportunities, relationships, and circumstances that it is hard for me not to reflect on and be thankful for them.

Aside from being grateful for cute shoes, great lighting, and stylish clothes, I am so incredibly thankful for the opportunities I’ve had in my life. I am blessed to have a roof over my head, food to eat, the right to worship, and access to a college application. I am also so immensely thankful for the people in my life.

To my family:  Thank you for driving me crazy, for being too loud, for being too up in my business. My parents, my brothers, my cousins, my aunts, my uncles, my grandparents.I wouldn’t have you all any other way. My life would be incomplete without my constant companions and supporters. I love you more than words could ever explain.

A photo of me, my brothers and some of our cousins, who are basically my entire world

To my childhood friends: Thank you for making me who I am. Our jokes and early memories are what made me into the person I am today. Even if time has passed and we have become more distant than we would like, I will always cherish our special memories.

A blurry shot with my besties since babies, Anastasia and Maria

To my high school friends: Thank you for the years of continued laughs, tears and support. Your faces make my heart happy. I am so grateful I have you to talk to, to vent to, to catch up with. You truly are irreplaceable in my life.

My beautiful, smart, and funny Post Puberty group: Dani, Emily, Torie, and Lauren

Don’t know where I would be without these crazy kids: Dan, Lauren, and Grant

To my Greek friends: Thank you for giving me a group to hang with that shares my passion for my culture. I may get overwhelmed and stressed at times, but you have given me something to care about passionately and totally.

Thankful that GOYA brought Faye, Stacie, Eleni, Athanasia, and Dionisia into my life

Love my crazy friends from the Greek and Cypriot Student Association

To my college friends: Thank you for putting up with me 24/7 in a way that no one else has ever had to do. From class to the suite to club meetings, you have my back and best interest at heart. Thank you for knowing how to cheer me up and make me smile when I need it most.

To my Camp St. Paul family: Thank you for giving me a place to belong, a place where I can return year after year. You are my solace. Thank you for teaching me the importance of being faithful in relationships and in life in general. Thank you for giving me endless amounts of hope, love, kindness, and support.

Missing this moment from the first week of Camp St. Paul 2016

To my teachers, professors, and mentors: Thank you for believing in me and pushing me to try new things and break boundaries. I have learned so much over the last 19 years, and a lot of it has been from you. Thank you for showing me the beauty and importance of knowledge.

Incredibly grateful that one of my mentors, Maria, started out as my camp counselor and is now also one of my best friends

To my Tasters: Thank you for joining me on this journey. My blogging has been spotty at best, but so many of you have stuck by me through it all. I am endlessly and inexpressibly grateful for your support, love, and care. I am genuinely looking forward to many more blog posts and interactions with you all. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving all!

Fall Fashion: Favorite Looks + Thanksgiving Outfit #1

I love autumn. The colors, the weather, the beginning of the holiday season, the clothes. I can finally layer my clothes and bundle up in some of my fave clothes.

Even though we’re already more than halfway through November and almost on to winter already, I thought now would be a good time to share some of my favorite fall looks with you. Stay tuned for some Thanksgiving outfit inspiration after!

Scarves + Caps

Scarves have been some of my favorite fall and winter accessories for a few years now. When the temperature starts to drop, they’re the first thing I reach for. I also got into baseball caps a couple of months ago, probably in springtime. I wore them all summer, both at camp when I wanted to keep my hair under control and the sun out of my eyes, and at school when I wanted to go for a trendy street-style look. This fall, however, I’ve realized how much I love the pair together. They’re the epitome of street-style chic. They’re cozy and comfy but totally on trend. I think the pairing reminds me very much of a celebrity just trying to go about their life while hiding from the paparazzi. This look is perfect for class, running errands, or an afternoon out.

Scarf: Merona Women’s Plaid Scarf in Gray and Cream Stripe, $19.99 at Target

Cap: American Needle X UO Tonal Strap-Back Hat in Slate, $29.00 at Urban Outfitters

Stand-Out Coats

A stand-out coat is always a winner, and this month especially I’ve been hardore ogling some bright and eye-catching coats that are perfect for this season and next. They’re cozy as anything and make your outfit stand out. Extra credit if your coat has fancy buttons!

Blue Coat (left): Anne Klein Royal Blue Double-Breated Wool Peacoat, $79.99 at Century 21 Department Stores

Camel Coat (right): Flap Pocket Coat, $44.90 at Forever 21

Big Sweaters

I used to be all about form-fitting silhouettes, but the last few months, I have realized the appeal of big sweaters that pool around you. They’re great for snuggling into when you’re a little cold, convenient for pairing with leggings and boots when you’re running late, and perfect for so many situations. I have so many different styles now, like a regular long-line sweater and a cold-shoulder drapey sweater, and I could just live in them. Find one in a color and style you love and rock it all fall and winter!

Brown Sweater (left): Sweater in Rib With Cold Shoulder, $34.00 at ASOS

For years, I refused to wear turtlenecks, even though my mother always begged me, but at the start of the semester, I got really into them. I had gotten one last fall at Target, but I had only worn it a handful of times, and then I bought another one in September. They’re classy and cool, not to mention super trendy. I love pairing them with high-waisted jeans or skirts and long necklaces. I tend to stick to solid colors because I find them more slimming, but if you love the look of a patterned turtleneck, go for it!

Now, onto the promised bit of inspiration…

Thanksgiving Outfit Inspiration #1: Flowy Pants

I love sharing outfit ideas with you guys because I have so so many and I can’t always wear them all myself.

I firmly believe that the only way to get through the holidays, especially Thanksgiving, is to wear comfy, stretchy clothes that you can breathe in. There’s so much food and drink that it can be hard to stay in restrictive skinny jeans or a tight miniskirt throughout the many courses of the Thanksgiving meal. But that doesn’t mean you have to give up looking cute as can be!

For this particular outfit, I’m loving a pair of stretchy, flowy pants that let you eat as much as you want without ruining your outfit. Many of you may see flowy pants as a spring- or summertime piece, but when you choose something that looks a bit more structured, like a denim-esque pair, you can pull them off in the fall, too. This pair from Pink Ice is like the jegging version of flowy pants: looks like denim, but in real life, they’re 100% tencel, which is a super comfy and stretchy material. Pair these high-waisted beauties with a simple crop top and a flowy poncho, cardigan or kimono that you can cuddle (or hide!) in once the food coma hits. Bonus points if they color coordinate! I think these pants just scream for a heeled bootie, so I picked a pair with a cool lacing detail. I also think this outfit is calling for a trendy choker, so I picked a velvet choker with a leaf charm that matches the black booties and the whole outfit’s boho flair. Last but not least, finish it off with a cool patterned tote that boasts some contrasting colors. This will add some spark and extra detail to your outfit. Now, all you have to focus on is eating!

I hope that my Fall Faves and this Thanksgiving outfit inspiration gave you some ideas on how to amp up your style game this autumn! Wishing all of my American friends a happy Thanksgiving as well. Just a reminder to you all that I am so grateful you are on this journey with me.

Fall Fashion: Last Minute Halloween DIYs

Halloween is literally right around the corner (and if you’re in college, Halloweekend starts tonight), and even though I’m pretty sure I have no plans for Halloweekend whatsoever, I can’t stop perusing Pinterest, looking for the cutest (and easiest) costume DIYs.

DIY costumes are great because they’re unique and work double time as a conversation starter. A few years ago, I made myself a cupcake costume out of cardboard and I totally loved it. Granted, I think I was in the eighth grade and have not done anything nearly as creative for Halloween in the years since, but I can still dream.

Here’s a throwback to my favorite DIY Halloween costume, featuring my mom (left) and my Aunt Niki (right). All I did to make my costume was cut two cupcake shapes out of cardboard (there’s one behind me, too), cover the bottom with tin foil where the cupcake liner would be and paint on pink frosting with leftover paint I found in my garage. Then, I cut out little cardboard sprinkles and two cherries and colored them with markers, attaching them to the cardboard with velcro (though, in retrospect, I should’ve used hot glue). I used twine to attack the two cupcake sides and put it over my shoulders.

For those of you who have also procrastinated your costume making, take a look at some of my favorite cheap and easy DIYs!

Wednesday Addams

This costume is not only super simple to make, but also totally cool to portray. The look is really all in the makeup and hair: sullen face, dark lips, black braids. Check out this awesome makeup tutorial by YouTube user Madeyewlook Twice, and browse her channel for even more Halloween inspo! The outfit is also simple enough that you probably have all your necessities (black dress or shirt/skirt combo and black shoes) right in your closet. Just pick up some black tights and a white collar and you’re good to go! Honestly, I think the DIY options I’ve seen online are much cuter than the store-bought ones.

Dress: Black Peter Pan Collar Short Sleeve Shift Dress – $20.99 at SheIn

Flats: Women’s Gigi Point Flats in Black by Christian Siriano for Payless -$24.99 at Payless

Tights: Pack of Two 50 Denier Tights – $10.00 at Topshop

Gumball Machine

I am totally obsessed with this idea. I saw this in a couple of places online and it’s so fun and colorful. Basically, you attach a bunch of different colored pom poms to a tank top and pair it with a red skirt. Then, make a construction paper sign that says 25 cents and a little coin slot and voila! Super simple. Keep your makeup sweet and colorful just like your ensemble! Check out this awesome Youtube tutorial by MissRemiAshton to see how to do this (starting at 1:40) and 14 other adorable and easy costumes!

Pom Poms: Bright Multicolored Craft Pop Poms in Multi (Pack of 100) – $4.99 at Factory Direct Craft

Sneakers: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Core Hi in Red – $54.99 at Zappos

Show off your personality by dressing up as your fave emoji! Even if you don’t have a shirt with heart eyes on it, you can easily get a yellow tee and use fabric markers to draw a face on it. Pair it with a yellow tutu (just like LaurDIY in this video) and you’ve got a fun and flirty outfit! Keep the look casual and simple with comfy white sneakers and easy makeup.

Outfit: via Pinterest and YouTube

Tee: Next Level 330L Ladies’ Perfect Tee in Vibrant Yellow – $4.29 at Shirt Space

Fabric Markers: Fine Line Fabric Markers, 10 Count – $4.99 at Crayola

Sneakers: Adidas NEO Advantage Clean VS Sneaker – Womens – $54.95 at DSW

Tutu: Adult’s Yellow Tulle Tutu – $14.97 at Oriental Trading Co.

Here’s another look I’m totally obsessed with. I love that it’s quirky and fun, but also classy and sort of old fashioned. All you really need is a red and white skirt/dress (or a red or white skirt you can paint the opposite color on), some computer paper, a yellow marker and a hot glue gun. Take a look at Studio DIY’s cool and easy step-by-step tutorial for this costume, and don’t forget to rock a classic red lip!

Outfit: via Delish and Studio DIY

Crop Top: Express One Eleven Abbreviated V-Neck Halter – $5.99 at Express

Flats: Candy Color Patent Leather Pointed Toe Slip On Flat Ballet Shoe in Yellow – $8.43 at New Chic

Glue Gun: Craft Smart Mini Glue Gun, High Temp – $2.99 at Michael’s

Dress: Modern Twirl Dress – $34.99 at Modcloth

I hope that these DIY ideas have inspired you to make your own last minute costume this weekend! Let me know if you test out one of the ideas, and Tweet me pictures of your costumes! Have a happy and safe Halloweekend, everyone!

Winter Style: Valentine’s Day Look #2: Red Patterned Pants

Welcome back to Tantalizingly Tasteful! We’re just around the corner from Valentine’s Day, so I’ve been working on a series of outfit inspiration for you guys. You can check out my first idea here, but in the meantime, here is a second idea! Hope you guys enjoy!

Red Patterned Pants

Red is such an intense color, and it’s especially great on Valentine’s Day. Be bold and daring by wearing it in a surprising way by rocking red patterned pants. They’ll draw attention to killer legs and add some punch to your outfit. Stick to a tight silhouette to balance out the rest of your outfit.

AX Paris floral pants
Women’s Long Floral Printed Red Trousers, $24.99 at AX Paris
lumber jane leggings go jane
Lumber Jane Patterned Leggings, $8.52 at Go Jane

White and Black Graphic Tank

White and black go great with red. They make the red stand out and since they’re neutral, match with any other color you may add to your outfit. I chose graphics that relate to Valentine’s Day to keep the outfit festive. I would suggest that the shirt itself should be white and the graphics should be white so that the tank stands out under the blazer (more details below.)

love at first pinch top modcloth
Love at First Pinch Top, $29.99 at Modcloth
wander with love tank Forever 21
Wander With Love Tank, $15.90 at Forever 21

Black Fitted Blazer

A black blazer can make an outfit look totally polished, but when paired with red pants and a graphic tank, it can make you look totally urban cool. Make sure the blazer fits well and isn’t too baggy so that you look put together and not like you’re swimming in your clothes.

I would pair this outfit either with a leathery, shiny black flat, like a loafer, or a strappy black heel. Both will add to the cool feel of the outfit and play up the red pants.

I see this outfit with a really slick and precise updo, like a cool topknot, so I would pair this with a pair of gold drop earrings and an eye-catching clutch. A cool pair of sunglasses would definitely help amp up the cool factor, but of course they’re only necessary if the sun is actually out! Keeping the rest of your accessories minimal will allow this super cool look to speak for itself.

Now I’d like your feedback! I hope this post gave you some help deciding what to wear for Valentine’s Day! What did you think of this outfit? Winter Style: Valentine’s Day Look #1: Pink Midi Skirt

Hi everyone, welcome back to Tantalizingly Tasteful! Valentine’s Day is just a week away, so I figured it was time to get started on some outfit inspiration. Whether you’re going out on a date, hitting up a party, or just heading out with your girls, I hope you find some inspiration in my ideas, and that you have a great Valentine’s Day!

Pink Midi Skirt

I always wear some shade or red or pink on Valentine’s Day, so I thought I’d center this look around a pink mini skirt with a high waist. There are so many different silhouettes to choose from, so pick one that flatters your body and you feel most comfortable in.

pink midi skirt f21
Contemporary Pleated A-Line Skirt in Blush, $19.90 at Forever 21
pink midi skirt urbanog
Peplum Hem Skirt in Light Pink, $15.60 at Urbanog

Cropped Graphic Tee

To keep your look casual and cool, pair your skirt with a cropped (or knotted) graphic tee. Something in a light neutral color like white or grey with heart or love graphics is great for Valentine’s Day. The cropped top will whittle your waist, and a cool knot used to shorten longer shirts and make them appear cropped will draw even more attention to your smallest section and add some instant street-cred. And don’t be afraid to get some red in there! Pale pink and red, contrary to popular belief, can look super cute together!

make your mark crop top go jane
Make Your Mark Crop Top, $11.22 at Go Jane

Depending on the look you want to have, I would pair this outfit either with flats, or a chunky heeled or wedged bootie. A flat with a standout color like maroon or a cool, woven texture adds interest to your outfit. Just make sure your colors don’t clash! As far as heels go, wearing a bootie lets you play up the length of the midi skirt while also giving you a little bit of height. Stick to something chunky or something with a wedge so that you feel comfortable and still look casual cool.

I picture this look with a messy-chic ponytail and headband combo, with some eye catching earrings. I would pair it with a cute, fringed long strap bag and some cute bracelets. To finish it off and keep my toes warm, I would add some tall socks and scrunch them down so they’re just above my shoes.

My 2016 Style Inspirations

Even though the year has really just begun, I can think of a few ever-trendy and just overall cool celebrities that definitely slayed in 2015, and will without a doubt continue to shine in the new year. Here are some fabulous women who will be influencing my style this year!

  1. Khloe Kardashian: Khloe has to be one of my favorite celeb style and fitness icons. I admire her confidence and the way that she (rightfully) shows off the body and curves that she has worked for. And, to top it all off, she looks good on the red carpet and at the gym! Props to her for making herself a priority despite her crazy year! What I’m Stealing from Her: Her confidence to rock her curves and her super cute workout attire (not to mention her dedication to looking and feeling fab)!

  2. Zendaya: Zendaya has drawn a lot of positive attention to herself this past year, especially as a strong proponent of being your beautiful, natural self. I admire her confidence in herself and her strong ideas about what truly makes a person beautiful, as well as her trendy and age-appropriate outfits. What I’m Stealing from Her: Her trendy and fun, yet still mature and powerful, vibe.

  3. Selena Gomez: Selena Gomez is one celebrity that I feel like I’ve grown up with, since I always watched her on the Disney Channel. I love how in recent years she has embraced her maturity and begun to experiment with different, more varied styles, earning her the title of “style chameleon.” What I’m Stealing from Her: The confidence and adventure to try out (and hopefully rock!) a variety of styles and looks.

  4. Nicki Minaj: Nicki is another Hollywood celeb with crazy curves! I love how Nicki uses her curves to her advantage and always plays them up. She has killer confidence and a sense of fashion-y adventure. What I’m Stealing from Her: Her confidence to wear ensembles that flatter her body, especially in bright colors or unconventional prints and fabrics.

  5. Vanessa Hudgens: I have always admired Vanessa’s effortless, boho-edgy chic aura, especially the way she accessorizes. She always has the coolest jewelry and an easy-going and confident vibe. What I’m Stealing from Her: Her ability to accessorize and pile on rings and bracelets, something that I have an obsession with but can’t pull of as effortlessly or as fashionably!
