Fall Fashion: Thanksgiving Outfits #2 + #3

Thanksgiving is tomorrow! I’m so excited to see my family and eat some delicious food. In preparation for the holiday, I wanted to share two more last minute outfit ideas with you. Hope you all feel inspired!

Thanksgiving Outfit Inspiration #2: Fringe Top

Like I said in my last post, I try to wear flowy and comfortable clothes for holiday dinners. Aren’t holidays all about being comfortable and happy? But that doesn’t mean style gets thrown completely out the window.

Tops with fringe on them are bohemian-chic, and usually very flowy. Even with an empire waist, like this one from Pink Ice, there is still plenty of room for food beneath that top. The knit and fringe details add visual appeal to your outfit. I would pair this shirt with a pair of basic black leggings, both for contrast and for the stretchy waistband. Throw on a pair of over the knee boots on top for a bit of polish and edge. I love a cognac-colored boot with a lace back detail to play off the more natural color of the knit top. I would also add a scarf and purse with similar blue hues to add a pop of color and detail to an otherwise bland outfit.

Thanksgiving Outfit Inspiration #2: Sweater Dress

One last option I’d like to share with you all is a sweater dress. They’re cozy and comfy, and something with a fit and flare silhouette is perfect for Thanksgiving. To keep your outfit from being just another dress look, add a collared shirt. This adds some polish and interest to the ensemble. For something with short sleeves, use a collared tank top. If your dress has longer sleeves, use a long sleeve collared shirt and roll up the cuffs. To keep this look fun, but still comfortable, finish off the outfit with a pair of chunky heels, a metallic cuff bracelet, and a quirky purse.

Toni

Fall Fashion: Favorite Looks + Thanksgiving Outfit #1

I love autumn. The colors, the weather, the beginning of the holiday season, the clothes. I can finally layer my clothes and bundle up in some of my fave clothes.

Even though we’re already more than halfway through November and almost on to winter already, I thought now would be a good time to share some of my favorite fall looks with you. Stay tuned for some Thanksgiving outfit inspiration after!

Scarves + Caps

Scarves have been some of my favorite fall and winter accessories for a few years now. When the temperature starts to drop, they’re the first thing I reach for. I also got into baseball caps a couple of months ago, probably in springtime. I wore them all summer, both at camp when I wanted to keep my hair under control and the sun out of my eyes, and at school when I wanted to go for a trendy street-style look. This fall, however, I’ve realized how much I love the pair together. They’re the epitome of street-style chic. They’re cozy and comfy but totally on trend. I think the pairing reminds me very much of a celebrity just trying to go about their life while hiding from the paparazzi. This look is perfect for class, running errands, or an afternoon out.

Scarf: Merona Women’s Plaid Scarf in Gray and Cream Stripe, $19.99 at Target

Cap: American Needle X UO Tonal Strap-Back Hat in Slate, $29.00 at Urban Outfitters

Stand-Out Coats

A stand-out coat is always a winner, and this month especially I’ve been hardore ogling some bright and eye-catching coats that are perfect for this season and next. They’re cozy as anything and make your outfit stand out. Extra credit if your coat has fancy buttons!

Big Sweaters

I used to be all about form-fitting silhouettes, but the last few months, I have realized the appeal of big sweaters that pool around you. They’re great for snuggling into when you’re a little cold, convenient for pairing with leggings and boots when you’re running late, and perfect for so many situations. I have so many different styles now, like a regular long-line sweater and a cold-shoulder drapey sweater, and I could just live in them. Find one in a color and style you love and rock it all fall and winter!

Turtlenecks

For years, I refused to wear turtlenecks, even though my mother always begged me, but at the start of the semester, I got really into them. I had gotten one last fall at Target, but I had only worn it a handful of times, and then I bought another one in September. They’re classy and cool, not to mention super trendy. I love pairing them with high-waisted jeans or skirts and long necklaces. I tend to stick to solid colors because I find them more slimming, but if you love the look of a patterned turtleneck, go for it!

Now, onto the promised bit of inspiration…

Thanksgiving Outfit Inspiration #1: Flowy Pants

I love sharing outfit ideas with you guys because I have so so many and I can’t always wear them all myself.

I firmly believe that the only way to get through the holidays, especially Thanksgiving, is to wear comfy, stretchy clothes that you can breathe in. There’s so much food and drink that it can be hard to stay in restrictive skinny jeans or a tight miniskirt throughout the many courses of the Thanksgiving meal. But that doesn’t mean you have to give up looking cute as can be!

For this particular outfit, I’m loving a pair of stretchy, flowy pants that let you eat as much as you want without ruining your outfit. Many of you may see flowy pants as a spring- or summertime piece, but when you choose something that looks a bit more structured, like a denim-esque pair, you can pull them off in the fall, too. This pair from Pink Ice is like the jegging version of flowy pants: looks like denim, but in real life, they’re 100% tencel, which is a super comfy and stretchy material. Pair these high-waisted beauties with a simple crop top and a flowy poncho, cardigan or kimono that you can cuddle (or hide!) in once the food coma hits. Bonus points if they color coordinate! I think these pants just scream for a heeled bootie, so I picked a pair with a cool lacing detail. I also think this outfit is calling for a trendy choker, so I picked a velvet choker with a leaf charm that matches the black booties and the whole outfit’s boho flair. Last but not least, finish it off with a cool patterned tote that boasts some contrasting colors. This will add some spark and extra detail to your outfit. Now, all you have to focus on is eating!

I hope that my Fall Faves and this Thanksgiving outfit inspiration gave you some ideas on how to amp up your style game this autumn! Wishing all of my American friends a happy Thanksgiving as well. Just a reminder to you all that I am so grateful you are on this journey with me.

My Last Few Days as a High School Senior!!!

Hey everyone, happy July!! Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. This summer is a really exciting summer for me because it’s my chance to transition from high school to (gulp) college. I graduated a week ago and I already can’t believe how fast the time is flying. To start off this summer, I’m going to share some of the details of my last few days as a high school senior with you all!!

Thursday, June 25: Senior Prom

Thursday was the day that started it all. Senior prom is the day that everyone spends their high school years dreaming about. It’s the things that (high school) fairy tales are made of. But no one ever tells you how much work it takes!! I was out the door by 10 AM to get my nails done, grabbed a quick coffee and lunch (to go!) with Torie, ran to my hair and makeup appointments at an Ulta store twenty minutes from my house and got home with barely enough time to get ready before my family was supposed to come take pictures with me. And I was still three hours off from the beginning of prom!!  To spare all the grueling details, I went to pre-prom at my friend’s house (where three of my amazing friends surprised me with a stunning corsage!!!) and then at school, where we climbed onto a super cool party bus that fit 29 of us! The half hour limo ride to Floral Terrace, where prom actually took place, was great, the cocktail hours was nice and the real party was incredible! I can honestly say that it was one of the best nights of my life. I danced all night, took great pictures with my friends, enjoyed delicious food and just got to reminisce about my four years in high school. Looking back at it now, I can’t even believe how quickly it all passed! Shout out to all the incredibly people who made this night possible!! Check the end of the article for details on what I wore!!

Couldn’t resist a selfie!!

Friday, June 26: Afterprom

When prom was over, we took the party bus back to Arianna’s house and stayed for the night. We ate yummy mozzarella sticks and pizza bagels, laughed and danced… And didn’t get to sleep until the early hours of the morning!! In the afternoon, we took a ferry to Fire Island, where we spent the day lounging on the beach and going swimming (the water was freezing!!) We grabbed dinner and ice cream, and while most of the crew grabbed a late night ferry back to “the mainland,” four of us stayed overnight in a borrowed house! Back at the house, we chilled out on the back porch and ate late night mac and cheese. It may have been a long day, but it was incredibly fun and enjoyable!

Deliriously happy after prom!!

Saturday, June 27: Return from Fire Island

Saturday was by far the most relaxed day of this particular weekend. The four of us who stayed over in Fire Island woke up at 8, ate mac and cheese for breakfast, cleaned the house and then took a nap. No pressure, no tight schedule. We grabbed pizza and ice cream and caught a ferry back to Long Island. That night, Torie and Emily came back to my house to finish decorating our caps for graduation the next day. Even though they were at my house until midnight, I was glad they came by to keep me company.

Sunday, June 28: Graduation!!

Sunday was THE day… the end of four incredible years of high school, the end of the memories. But it was also the beginning of a new stage in my life, a stage that I am so excited for! It was such a bittersweet day, complete with caps, gowns, selfies, laughter and tears. It all went by in a flash, it was honestly so hard to believe. The only thing that ruined the day was the it was nearly impossible to hear the speeches, which I had really been looking forward to hearing, from the stage. All in all, it was incredibly fulfilling day, knowing that I successfully finished my high school career and have so many awesome opportunities and events ahead of me. I really am so proud of myself for doing as well as I did and doing the different activities that I did, and I am so grateful to everyone who got me there. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for me as I go on to college at Stony Brook University!!

Winter Style: Holiday Party Look #2: Velvet Dress

Hey, everyone! Hope you’re all as excited for the holidays as I am, especially for the awesome outfit opportunities! Here’s a more posh, high fashion-y outfit for you all to try! Hope you like it!

Velvet Dress

Velvet is such a luxurious looking and feeling fabric, but it’s generally affordable, so it’s a great way to take an outfit to the next level. Look for a short dress in a stand-out color since it will be the focus of your ensemble.

grey velvet dress

blue velvet dress

Faux Leather Moto Jacket

To keep up the luxe look at a lower cost, pair the velvet dress with a simple, black faux leather moto jacket. The simplicity of the cut and style of the jacket will allow the velvet dress to take center stage, but the faux leather will make you look effortlessly cool and fun!

faux leather moto jacket black and grey

Shoes

To make this outfit more urban, fun and fashion-y, I would pair it with a pair of printed or brightly colored high top sneakers. They’re comfy and quirky, and add a bit of interest to your outfit!

floral high tops

coral high tops

Accessories

To finish up this outfit, I would add some popping accessories. I would start off with sheer black tights to keep your leg warms, and then a pair of black knee high socks scrunched down to just above your shoes for a fashion forward look. Feel free to substitute something more colorful or quirky for either, or to forgo one or both. I would then choose an eye-catching black and white headband and put my hair in a high bun so it can take center stage. I would also pair it with a pair of glitzy, dangling earrings in a neutral for a bit of dazzle and glamour. Lastly, I would pair the whole ensemble with a small, quirky wallet or clutch to add to the playful feel of the outfit.

Fall Fashion: 10 Pieces I’m Adding to My Wardrobe

1. Faux leather moto jacket: When fall comes around, with its brisk mornings and freezing nights, I know it’s time to break out the outerwear. A faux leather moto jacket is just the piece I need to boost my fashion cred. They’re classy and sassy, and can bring an outfit together like nothing else. I usually go for something in black that’s polished and not costumey.

2. Skater skirts: Nothing goes better with cropped sweaters and knee high socks than skater skirts. They can be casual or dressy, patterned or solid. There are so many varieties of these skirts that are perfect for autumn. I try to look for something with a slightly longer length so I can wear it to school!

3. Infinity scarves: Scarves are some of my favorite accessories during the fall season. They keep me warm and still look stylish. I especially love infinity scarves because they’re cozy and lend a bit of texture to my outfit. Plus, there are so many different ways to wear them! Look for a pattern or color that fits in with your wardrobe!

4. Casual dresses: I love wearing dresses to school all year round, but most of my dresses are either too summery or too fancy. So this year, I am on the hunt for some cute casual dresses I can pair with tights just for school or even for a party! Right now, my eyes are wandering towards dark, fall colors and cute patterns!

red casual dress

5. Plaid blouses: Plaid is such a classic pattern for the fall, but this year, I want to give it a more fashion-y look in my wardrobe, so I’m looking for plaid blouses. They’ll look more polished and runway-esque than a plain ol’ button down!

white plaid bloouse

6. Booties with low heels: I loooove booties, but all the pairs that I own are either completely flat or too high for me to be comfortable in in school. This year, I’m on the hunt for cute booties with a one inch heel, which will let me be comfortable and cute! Bonus points if they’ve got trendy cutouts!

cutout low heel booties

studded taupe booties

7. Plum, eggplant and wine: Plum, eggplant and wine are such rich and classy colors, they’re perfect for fall! It’s easy to find all sorts of pieces in any of these cool, fashion-forward colors, and they’re awesome with florals, stripes and plaids! Look for a piece that fits in with your wardrobe!

plum fur jacket

eggplant skinny jeans

8. Blazers: Blazers are a must-have for every single girl out there. They’re polished and stylish, but most importantly, they can even keep you warm. They’re perfect for an internship or interview, even in a bright color or cool print. Blazers are so versatile, and can go from school or work, to a night out! Find a piece that you’re comfortable in and that you can have fun mixing and matching with!

9. Kimonos: Kimonos are so graceful, and can be a great middle layer for the fall. They are fun to wear and are flattering to all body types. Something in dark, fall colors is perfect for the season.

10. Loafers: Loafers are super classy and super cute, not to mention comfortable and easy to rock in school, at an internship, at work or even out on the town. They can say a lot about your personality, and they’re a perfect pair of shoes to wear in the midst of a sea of boots. Look for something that says something special about you.

Back to School: What Backpack Will You Be Rocking This Year?

Backpacks are probably one of the most important back to school supplies you could possibly get.  Except, I try to think of backpacks as more of fashion accessories instead of school supplies. Even though it has to be big enough for all of your binders and textbooks and functional with pockets and working zippers, but it can also be cute! Check out some of these cute bags that can be both.

Polka Dots

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I love polka dots. They’re playful and cute, but can also be classy. And when they’re on an adorable tote bag or roomy backpack, what’s not to love? You can go for a super classic black and white look, or even a pretty colored pattern. What’s awesome about polka dots is that since it’s such a classic pattern, you can wear it in virtually any type of bag. Look for a type of bag and color of dots that you like.

black and white polka dot backpack

blue and white tote bag
Structured

If you want to look professional and still cool, look for a bag that’s a little bit more structured. It will probably have a more rigid frame and seem almost like a briefcase, but it will still be cool and functional. I like something that has a thick, rigid top handle. Look for something in a cool color or fabric to make sure the bag is more hallway appropriate than cubicle ready.

green structured bag

pink structured bag

Tote

A tote is a really cool way to get a different style backpack but still get the room. It’s also great if you’ve got back pains because it takes some pressure off your back. Totes in a leathery fabric are generally sturdier and longer lasting than a cotton or canvas material, but find something you feel is comfortable and functional for you. If you’re going for something with a leathery feel, look for something in a super cool and classic color like caramel or burgundy. If you want something with a cotton or canvas material, look for something in a playful color and pattern.

caramel tote

striped tote bag

Crochet

Crochet is awesome because it can be girly and classy, but also bohemian and fun. My only issue with crochet is that it’s usually in an off white or beige color, which means it can easily be stained. I’m not the daintiest or most careful person, so choosing a beige crochet backpack probably wouldn’t be the best idea for me. But if you know that you can keep it clean, give it a shot! It’s an awesome look that’s something totally out of the norm. Carry around a Tide to Go stick or Shout wipes just in case you get a stain. If you’re into the crochet vibe but don’t think you should go for an all around look, try something with a crochet accent, like a pocket. You’ll still get the cute crochet look but with a higher chance of keeping your bag clean.

Floral

The last bag that I want to feature is a floral bag. Floral can be done in so many ways, which is so cool. It comes in all different colors, and the flowers can be big or small. Also, you can find the bags in all different styles. They can be cute and sweet, fashionable and trendy or fierce and feisty. They let you bring a piece of the spring and summer to the hallway all year long. Look for something that makes you feel refreshed.

So, now I’d like to hear your feedback. Which bag would you like to rock this year?

Back to School: Five Hallway Essentials

Hey, guys! With school right around the corner, I thought I’d share my school necessities with you! Hope you enjoy!

1. Cute backpack: Everyone knows how important your backpack is to your school experience. It honestly can make or break your year. You want something that’s cute and trendy, but also affordable and roomy. I always like to look for something with pockets to hold my cell phone, wallet and emergency kit. I try to look for something with lots of compartments so that I can keep my books organized. When you get your bag, put your books in it right away to make sure it can hold everything. If not, it’s back to the drawing board! It’s better to have one completely functional bag than two or three cute bags full of books! Stay tuned for a guide on this year’s backpack trends!

2. Sweet (and comfy!) kicks: Chances are that, if you’re in high school, there’s going to be some point in the day when you have to sprint from one side of the school to another just to make it to class on time. Let’s be real here: You really don’t want to make that trek in a pair of impossibly high heels or incredibly tight shoes that give you blisters. So opt for something a little bit more comfortable and manageable. Sure, it’s fun to wear heels to school every once in a while, but when you do, stick to a maximum of two or three inches with a platform, and go for flats the rest of the time. You’ll get to class faster, and your feet will thank you. But don’t feel like you have to do sneakers just to stay comfortable! There are so many different kinds of shoes that you could rock while still sparing your feet the trauma. Find a style that you like and feel comfortable in, then rock them in the hallways!

3. Functional and cool watch: At school, it’s always important that you know the time. You need to know how much time you have left on a test? You want to know how much time you have left of this boooring U.S. history lecture? You want to know how much time you have left to finish your forgotten homework? Check. Your. Watch. I can’t tell you how much wearing a watching to school has helped me. The school’s clocks are always breaking or out of sight, so now I can rely on my own handy dandy watch. And watches can be cute! They’re practical and fashionable. What’s better than that?! I like analog watches, but if you can’t read analog: 1. Learn how to. 2. Go for digital. There are so many cute options, the possibilities are endless!

4. Adorable wallet: For me, it’s always important to have a wallet on me. I need to have my school I.D. on me at all times, and some money in case there’s a pizza sale or my friends want to make a quick Starbucks run in between school and extracurricular activities. It’s important to me that my wallets are cute, so (ironically), all of mine have animals on them. I have one with a peacock, two with owls and one with an elephant. They make me smile, and they’re great conversation starters. Look for something that matches your own personal style and personality, but also holds your I.D., your cash, your change and, of course, your Panera card and Starbucks gift card!

5. Super cute makeup bag: I’ll be honest, I totally rely on a makeup bag at school. I use it to hold my emergency kit (blog post coming soon!) and need it to be roomy, but also cute! I like something with a zipper and preferably some compartments. I usually either keep it in my locker or in my backpack, but my friends come to me for things that I keep in there, so I want it to be cute!
