Winter Style: Holiday Outfits #1 +#2

It’s holiday party season, which means it’s time for red everything, velvet dresses, high heels, and tons of tinsel. Stay tuned for some cool outfit ideas!

Holiday Outfit Inspiration #1: Red Peplum Top

I love wearing red to holiday parties. I think it’s such a great, festive color. So a red peplum top is a great central piece for this outfit. Peplum tops help whittle your waist and create and hourglass figure. Pair with a pair of black leather or coated pants and a patterned sports jacket for a cool-girl kind of look and a bit of shine. Finish off the look with black stilettos with red accents, a black bag with some silver hardware and a solid silver choker to polish the entire outfit.

Peplum Top: Time and Lace Wine Red Lace Peplum Top, $18.50 at Lulu’s

Choker: O-Ring Snake Chain Coker in Silver, $3.90 at Forever 21

Pants: Moto Babe Coated Leggings, $15.87 at Go Jane

Shoes: C Label Napoli-28 in Black, $32.99 at 6pm

Purse: Ida Clutch by Carlos Santana, $29.99 at TJ Maxx

Jacket: Jealous Tomato Floral Raglan Scuba Bomber Jacket, $29.99 at Century 21

Holiday Outfit Inspiration #2: Denim Mini Skirt

Another look I really love is the denim mini skirt. Though people may traditionally associate denim skirts with springtime, I happen to love a denim skirt paired with a long coat and long sleeves for the winter. This look is definitely more casual and fun, so it would be great for a small New Years gathering. I’d start with a straight denim skirt, paired with an athletic-looking all-black long sleeve shirt. Pair this with sneakers (bonus style points if they have a platform!) and layered necklaces for a street-style vibe. Top with a brightly colored peacoat, flashy clutch and ultra-cool minimalistic digital watch and voila! You’ve got an effortlessly cool holiday look!

outfit-2

Denim Mini Skirt: BDG Pencil Denim Mini Skirt, $59.00 at Urban Outfitters

Top: Varsity Stripe Ponte Crop Top, $15.00 at Charlotte Russe

Peacoat: Anne Klein Double-Breasted Peacoat in Cobalt, $89.99 at Macy’s

Necklaces: Black Tattoo Choker with Layered Arrow and Turquoise Spike Pendant Necklaces Set of 3, $5.00 at Icing

Purse: Colorful Embroidered Clutch in Black, $33.60 at UrbanOG

Sneakers: Superga Acot Linea Sneaker, $79.95 at Nordstrom

Watch: White Digital Activity Tracker Watch in White, $9.99 at Rue 21

I hope these holiday outfit inspirations gave you some ideas on how to amp up your style game for this holiday season! Hope your holidays are wonderful and full of happiness, love, laughter, and great fashion!

Toni

Fall Fashion: September Haul

As some of you may know, I am going to Washington, D.C. in November for Pan-Hellenism Weekend, which is basically just a giant convention of Greeks. I’m super pumped, not only because I’m going to see friends from camp and go to a new place, but also because I had to get some new clothes for the occasion!

I am a self-proclaimed shopaholic. Once I start, it’s very, very hard to get me to stop. I recently bought a decent amount of clothes from Target, Century 21 and Forever 21, so I figured I’d share them with you Tasters. Everything is styled with NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Vintage (here). Also, a major shout out to my mom for buying most of these clothes and my brother Nicholas who came shopping with us and spent two hours taking pictures of me. Hope you all enjoy!

Friday Finds: Pinterest + New Fitness Plan!!

No day is better than Friday. I don’t have classes on Fridays (ha!), so I usually spend my time sleeping late, going to the gym, and browsing social media. So, why not  peruse social media AND be productive by blogging about it?

Welcome to the first of (hopefully) many Friday Finds~

Basically, I’m just going to list a few cool things I found on the social media of my choice that I think you guys would enjoy. Please don’t forget to tell me what you think and share your Friday Finds with me!

OH and make sure to stick around till the end so you can take a peek at my new fitness plan 🙂

FRIDAY FINDS: Pinterest!

Pinterest is my source for information, motivation, inspiration and creation. I am highly addicted and love trying out the new ideas I find on there. Here are five pins that I’m loving this week:

1. Morning Yoga in Bed: Let’s be real, I am definitely a lazy girl. So if I can spend just a few more minutes in bed AND stretch at the same time, you can count me in! This awesome graphic, originally from Fit Girl’s Diary, demonstrates some easy yoga poses we can do to stretch and energize our bodies before even rolling out of bed. What’s not to love about that?

yoga-in-bed
Wish my bed looked this neat… Make sure to follow Fit Girl’s Diary on Pinterest, @fitgirlsdiary14!

2. Rainbow Smoothie: Yeah, this is pretty darn cool. Not only are these multi-color smoothies totally Insta-worthy, they’re also naturally good for you! Complete with fruits and veggies like bananas, mango, beets and spinach, this smoothie by The First Year will give you plenty of essential nutrients. Can’t wait to give this one a try!

If you try this super cool smoothie, make sure to let me know what you think! Check out more of The First Year’s recipes on Pinterest, @thefirstyear!

3. Work, Work, Work: This week has been a little rougher for me than others. I was so ready to jump right into my new plan and work to achieve some goals, but come Monday morning, I was feeling under the weather and dealing with some unwelcome drama. This little quote right here kept me going through the week. I didn’t miss a single gym day and kept eating well instead of giving in and saying, “Oh, I’m sick, I’ll just start over next week.” It’s all about mindset, and honestly, this image kept me in the right one all week. Thanks to skinny-healthyme.tumblr.com (now http://www.nutrifitblr.com/)  for the original post!

staying-in-shape-yay
Had this up on my computer all week… just saying. Repinned from @standouthealth

4. Dutch Sister Braid: I am always looking for new ways to wear my hair to the gym instead of resorting the the same old ponytail, especially since I go to the gym after/in between classes now. This super cute braid and pony combo from MakeupWearables is trendy and chic, but more importantly, practical. So excited to test this look out!

How can a hairstyle be so pretty, easy and practical all at the same time? Make sure to follow them on Pinterest, @makeupwearables!

5. SCARVES: Just because I’m adding some new content doesn’t mean I’m not still going to post about fashion! Yesterday was the first day of autumn, and I am so excited about the change in fashion that comes with the change in seasons. The layering, the boots, THE SCARVES!! Yes, I have a slightly unhealthy love of scarves. What I love about this look found on Wachabuy is that I can totally imagine myself wearing it and still being totally comfortable and practical. Most of my gym times these days are scheduled after or in between classes, so outfits like this that can transition from the classroom to the Arc Trainer are perfect for me. And a scarf makes it even better! Just gotta trade the Starbucks for my water bottle and the tote for my backpack…

And onto the next bit, here’s…

MY FALL 2016 FITNESS PLAN!!

So, after a lot of research and thought, I finally put together a plan for myself to follow on my journey to a healthier lifestyle. I compiled some (more) Pins I found and took my own schedule into account to decide how I should work out and when.

So without further adieu, here it is! (I color-coded it just for you guys:))

fitness-plan-fall-2016

My cardio usually consists of the Arc Trainer, which I set to “Women’s Weight Loss” mode. It gives me the option of “Hill Climb” and “Speed Bump” (I think), and I generally alternate between the two. Sometimes, I use the bicycle machine or go on a run instead,  but the Arc Trainer is my preferred method of exercise.

As far as my other workouts, basically all I did was pull ideas from the following three pins and combine them based on what I thought I could handle physically and what my schedule allowed.

exercise-circuit-schedule
This pin that I repinned from @POPSUGAR served as the basis for how much time and what body parts I exercise each day.
weekly workout circuit plan.jpg
This graphic from cocolifestyle.tumblr.com is the framework for what exercises I use to work out each body part. I ended up changing some of them a little bit based on what I can handle physically and what I can actually do in my dorm room (like I don’t have weights so I can’t do tricep extensions), but it’s definitely a good place to start.
30-day-abs-and-squats-challenge
I love challenges with particular outcomes in mind, so I definitely wanted to add this 30 day challenge from Fitness Republic so I could consistently work my problem areas.

So far, I’m really loving my new plan. I do my cardio at the campus rec center during the day, either after or in between classes, and then do my strength exercises when I get back to my room. I’ll go through one circuit, then do my sit-ups, then another circuit and crunches, then the last circuit and squats, and then I’ll end with the killer one minute plank. (Yes, I am weak and shake the entire time, but I’m working on it!) I won’t lie, it is pretty exhausting, but it’s totally worth it and my body already feels better. I also make sure to record everything I eat and every exercise I do in the MyFitnessPal app. It helps me keep track of my progress and everything I’m doing.

I hope that one of these pins or my new plan inspires you to try something new in your life, whether it be directly from something you see online or something you have to manipulate to fit your lifestyle better. Remember, we’re not cookie-cutter people, so not everything is going to work exactly the same for everyone. Don’t forget to let me know what you thought about these pins and what you’re working on at home! Until next time…

xx,

Toni

Winter Style: Valentine’s Day Look #2: Red Patterned Pants

Welcome back to Tantalizingly Tasteful! We’re just around the corner from Valentine’s Day, so I’ve been working on a series of outfit inspiration for you guys. You can check out my first idea here, but in the meantime, here is a second idea! Hope you guys enjoy!

Red Patterned Pants

Red is such an intense color, and it’s especially great on Valentine’s Day. Be bold and daring by wearing it in a surprising way by rocking red patterned pants. They’ll draw attention to killer legs and add some punch to your outfit. Stick to a tight silhouette to balance out the rest of your outfit.

AX Paris floral pants
Women’s Long Floral Printed Red Trousers, $24.99 at AX Paris
lumber jane leggings go jane
Lumber Jane Patterned Leggings, $8.52 at Go Jane

White and Black Graphic Tank

White and black go great with red. They make the red stand out and since they’re neutral, match with any other color you may add to your outfit. I chose graphics that relate to Valentine’s Day to keep the outfit festive. I would suggest that the shirt itself should be white and the graphics should be white so that the tank stands out under the blazer (more details below.)

love at first pinch top modcloth
Love at First Pinch Top, $29.99 at Modcloth
wander with love tank Forever 21
Wander With Love Tank, $15.90 at Forever 21

Black Fitted Blazer

A black blazer can make an outfit look totally polished, but when paired with red pants and a graphic tank, it can make you look totally urban cool. Make sure the blazer fits well and isn’t too baggy so that you look put together and not like you’re swimming in your clothes.

7th avenue black blazer New York and Company
7th Avenue Design Studio One-Button Jacket – Signature Fit – Double Stretch, $69.95 at New York and Company
bar III black blazer Macy's.png
Bar III Rouched Sleeve Cropped Blazer in Black, $47.99 at Macy’s

Shoes

I would pair this outfit either with a leathery, shiny black flat, like a loafer, or a strappy black heel. Both will add to the cool feel of the outfit and play up the red pants.

slick fix loafer modcloth
Slick Fix Loafer in Black, $39.99 at Modcloth
joy and mario lisa slip on DSW.png
Joy & Mario Lisa Slip-On in Black, $89.95 at DSW
michele black lace-up heels Lulus
Michele Black Lace-Up Heels, $36.00 at Lulu’s
buckled strappy gladiator chunky platform heel urbanog
Buckled Strappy Gladiator Chunky Platform Heel, $102.90 at Urbanog

Accessories

I see this outfit with a really slick and precise updo, like a cool topknot, so I would pair this with a pair of gold drop earrings and an eye-catching clutch. A cool pair of sunglasses would definitely help amp up the cool factor, but of course they’re only necessary if the sun is actually out! Keeping the rest of your accessories minimal will allow this super cool look to speak for itself.

merritt triangle drop earrings Francescas
Merritt Triangle Drop Earrings, $12.00 at Francesca’s
geo du jour cutout taupe clutch Lulus
Geo du Jour Taupe Clutch, $30.00 at Lulu’s

#OOTD December 27, 2015 + The Importance of Accessorizing

Welcome back, Tasters! And welcome back to me, too… Major apologies for  being MIA since August! To catch you all up, I finished my first semester of college at Stony Brook University (I’ll write a whole post soon) and now I’m on winter break for basically another month, so hopefully I’ll have plenty of time to actually blog! Let’s get started with my Outfit of the Day from my cousin’s baptism!

#OOTD

The Importance of Accessorizing

As far as I’m concerned, the accessories you choose for an outfit can make or break the entire look. With my outfit for the baptism, for example, I realized that I needed some eye-catching details to keep my relatively simple dress from being too boring. On the flip side, over-accessorizing can totally destroy an outfit by distracting from the natural beauty of both the clothes and the person. Here are some of my tips for accessorizing:

  1. Let your makeup and accessories work together: If I’m wearing colored accessories, I try to tie those colors in with my makeup as well so it doesn’t look like I’m trying to hard to mesh color palettes. For the baptism, for instance, I matched my clutch to my lipstick, which was NYX’s Butter Gloss in Red Velvet. Matching colors together in a subdued way like this lets your look stand out but also look classic and mature.

nyx butter gloss in red velvet
NYX has been one of my favorite makeup brands recently. I bought this color for the holidays and I’ve been loving it! NYX Butter Gloss in Red Velvet – $4.99 at Ulta
  2. Go bold with a striking color: When I wear all black or a combination of black and white, I always pack a punch with bold accessories, whether it’s an electric blue, a neon pink or a radiant red. The trick to pulling this off though is sticking to one bright piece instead of multiple to keep yourself from looking childish.
  3. Know when to mix metals: For fancier occasions like a baptism, I like to stick to one metal instead of mixing, so the other night, I stayed with gold. On an everyday basis, however, I tend to mix gold and silver for a more urban and effortless vibe. Knowing your intended atmosphere and vibe will help you decide how you should accessorize.
  4. Stay balanced: Make sure your jewelry and accessories are well-balanced to ensure that they aren’t fighting for dominance. If you pair a statement necklace with dangly earrings, they’ll swallow you whole. Decide which piece you want to take center stage, and work around that to decide what other accessories you should pair with it.

Now I’d like your feedback! I hope this post gave to a little bit of a peek into my life and gave you some ideas about accessorizing! What did you think of my outfit and my tips? How to Transition Your Wardrobe from Summer to Fall

What’s the point of buying all new clothes for the summer that can only be worn for three months before being thrown into the basement until June comes around again? With these tips, you’ll be able to make your summer purchases last you way longer than summer beach nights!

  1. Layer, layer, layer!: Layering is basically the key to unlocking endless wardrobe possibilities. You can still rock a summer tank top or flowy dress in the fall, as long as you layer over (or even under!) to protect yourself from those crisp Autumn mornings and nights. Try a denim jacket with a maxi dress, a leather jacket over a cute summer crop top, or a pullover sweater with a brightly colored mini skirt! Seriously, you’ll be warm and stylish, plus you’re getting more bang for your buck! What’s not to love about that?
  2. Don’t underestimate the importance of makeup: Makeup can completely change your look before your eyes. By pairing a simple black dress with a dark red lip instead of a coral sparkly lipgloss, your ensemble goes from beach-y to vamp-y, which is perfect for fall! Even a darker eyeshadow can let you reinvent your summer go-to’s!
  3. Remember to accessorize: To me, fall means lattes, crisp morning air, and scarves. My go-to fall outfits are tank tops, a sweater, jeans, boots and a scarf, which is perfect for me because when I get hot in school, I can easily take off my scarf and sweater and still be comfortable. Plus, scarves are so darn soft and comfy, and come in so many different styles and colors, that they’re nearly impossible not to love! And then there are hats and gloves and bags… Just a simple change from a necklace to a scarf or a colorful woven bag to a structured purse can make such a difference!
  4. Shoes can make it or break it: Autumn would not be complete without a good pair of boots. Boots that can easily be paired with a breezy summer dress or a tank are so versatile and perfect. Even rainboots are a great way to add a little piece of fall (and even spring later on!) into your summer outfits.

Now I’d like your feedback! I hope this post gave to a little bit of a peek into my life and gave you some ideas about how you can make your summer wardrobe last you into autumn! What did you think of my outfit and my tips? Do you have any ideas about how you’d execute an outfit like this? Would you like to see more posts like this in the future? #OOTD July 18, 2015 + How To Rock a Backyard Party

Hey you guys, welcome back to Tantalizingly Tasteful!! The other night, I went to a backyard party to celebrate my friend Jen’s 18th birthday and high school graduation. (Happy birthday and congrats again, Jen!!) Backyard parties are usually pretty mellow and enjoyable, but sometimes weather can get in the way. How can you be prepared for anything that may come your way and still look super cute? Keep reading for my tips, but first, my #OOTD!!

#OOTD

Where You Can Get It

Maxx; Distressed Boyfriend Jeans in Denim – $32.90 at Forever 21; Metallic Bangle Set in Gold Metallic – $5.99 at Rue21

Stay Comfy and Chic at a Backyard Bash

  1. Check the weather beforehand: Have an idea of what the anticipated weather is. This will help you dress appropriately for the weather. If the forecast expects it to get chilly at night, you know to wear a sweater or bring a denim jacket, but if it says that it’s going to be humid, you know you’re okay to wear a tank top!
  2. Know your body and yourself: Do you get cold really easily? Are you super likely to get eaten alive by mosquitoes? Are you a really messy eater and liable to stain a white shirt with ketchup or salsa? Make sure that you know what you could possibly encounter and be ready for anything you may face!!
  3. Balance your outfit: This one’s just a basic rule of life: if you’re planning on wearing a shirt that shows some skin (like I did), wear pants. If you want to wear a pair of shorts, cover up your top half a little more. Creating a balance will make you look chic and appropriate.
  4. Keep your hair natural: Do me a favor and don’t do anything special to your hair. Last night, my friend Emily spent half an hour curling her hair for the party, and it fell almost as soon as we got to the party. Straightening or curling your hair is pointless, the summer humidity will just undo it. I suggest leaving it down (like I did) or styling your natural hair with some clips or a headband. That way, you don’t have to worry about all your hard going to waste.
